Like the lithops. I am just getting started with these myself. Can I ask you a question? I planted some dry root lithops and they are small like these. How often do you water them? I’ve read so many different articles that I’m not sure when to water them. Is there a good way to tell? Thx

@robbinb there's no real rule to watering lithops. It all depends on how dry your climate is and how much water your soil mix holds. I live in New Jersey and my plants live in the house, so it's not very humid. My adult lithops (1/2 inch or bigger) get watered about once every week or two in the fall and in the spring. Smaller lithops need more frequent water (every two or three days). You kinda just have to wing it. I killed 7 of my original 13 before getting the hang of it.

@robbinb I use a very gritty mix that is about 1-3mm grains. If your mix isn't fine enough it won't hold enough water and they'll die of thirst. I'll tag you on my recipe.

Some of them may still survive, so I'm not giving up yet. This is my seed mix from #mesagarden and so wish I'd been more careful.

My 8-week old #mesagarden #seedlings seem to not be doing very well. They're yellowish instead of bright green. Maybe too much sun? These guys get bright afternoon sunlight pretty much from noon till 6-7 pm. The light is filtered through Kleenex taped to the windowpane but maybe that's still too much. #lithops #seedlings #grownfromseed #fromseed #growyourown #gyo #gyolithops

Update 17 June 2018: I moved these over to a windowsill that only gets morning light till about noon. Hope they perk back up.
