Can anyone tell me if the smaller version of friendship plant ie. this one. Is still called so??
Looks like Billbergia nutans to me (Queens Tears, Friendship Plant). Just smaller, it will grow.
@Annettenoosa thanks. The one in a more shadier position is very large. Older too. Perhaps that’s why I think they’re two varieties.

I'll have to remember this one for when mine flowers.
Definitely bilbergia nutans 🤗
@Annettenoosa have I labelled it incorrectly ihave larger one too
Alcantarea is a large brom, over a metre tall, which is what you are showing on this link. This picture is of Billbergia nutans, a small plant with blue, green and yellow flowers on a pink stem. Common name 'Queens Tears'. So, yes, not correctly named. 🙂
@Annettenoosa I think I got change right. The one in encyclopaedia looks same.

@rosegardengirl
Will have to take a picture of mine tomorrow. Have so many broms with no ID
@Sussanah I think this is a bilbergia nutans (bromeliad family). Not Alcantarea, which is a huge plant ☺😚
Ah ta. I’ll change link. Can you swipe and see if the larger one have different name or just lanky version in shade @Annettenoosa
@Sussanah not sure what the one without the flower is. The pink flower is Billbergia nutans, without doubt. The Alcantarea has a long spike over a metre tall in a metre plus tall brom, commonly with silverish leaves.
I know this Billbergia well because it was the first plant in the Bromeliad family I was given when I was about 9 yo. Loved it then, still do.
@Annettenoosa I don’t think I have big one. I’ll change it. Cheers mate
