I bought a house in September 2020. A clean pallet for another 15 years as I’ve recently left my tropical garden in Brisbane and moved to Ipswich.

#fiddleleaffig #messy dead leaves look like fiddles. Not even a mower can mulch them.

@gauravsh6 until they die and turn brown. They look like a fiddle funny enough 🤓. Slide left to see other pics of this tree and the mess they make.

Fiddle leaf figs named due to their brown fiddle shaped fallen leaves. Very messy

Great mulch...good 'value' in each leaf. Maybe crushed up into small particles ?

@deekay unfortunately they don't break down quickly enough for my mum and dads suburban yard. I've mowed them and raked into a pile and before it can even start to turn to mulch the wind blows it all over the lawn again. At my place I would leave them in a corner to rot slowly but Dad likes the more manicured look. I can't mow anymore so mum gets a chap in. Must tell him to get leaves next time. Haven't mowed for months. No rain. No need. 🍃👍🏻

Yeah, I hear you. The leaves are a blight on the landscape to neat gardeners.

Large crispy brown leaves in the shape of a fiddle. The figs attract birds and possums. Very messy tree.

Scary thought - That's a big one. Does it fruit? Didn't know that. Mine is staying in the pot as Blue Mountains is not a natural environment for this fussy plant.

@Shephes this one is prob 40 years old but I've known it this big for at least 20. It's at my parents 5 mins away. Yep don't plant it in the ground. Unless you have acreage. Lots of fig fruit. Once it flowers you might see fruit.

Good to know. Potted (caged) fig it stays. All that stands to reason. I have seen different ficus go crazy. Amazing they are sold as potted. If it survives the cold at my house. Last winter was an effort

@Shephes jealous. I am melting today. Just to go outside under house the air is so thick I can't breathe.

@Shephes only coz I had to collect them. Mow over. Then bin it. They don’t have compost. Besides they don’t break down for a long time
