Help me identify this plant please #plantid. Was kindly given some roots from a colleague. Apparently grows quite big but I have to confess my partner mistook it for a weed and has recently strimmed it! ! 😢

I have dug mine out, it has nasty thorns coming out of the flower,spreads like mad, and each year it gets covered in mildew @sylviaDavies

Yes @SylviaDavies I had it in my garden in London (which I rescued from the garden of a derelict house 😉) and gave a root to a friend in Llwyngwril. When we came back to Wales he brought me a root of his plant. It’s a plant with a history!
A great bear’s breeches tale Val! @valjones-hughes Yes I have it too Sylvia. Moved some last year as it wasn’t getting enough sun so what flowers it had were wonky!
