With little knowledge, I'm slowly turning an acre field into a garden! This is my first gardening attempt, so there's such a lot to learn! 🐝🦋🌻

@tonyb I had lost track of what dahlia was in which pot so in the end it was very much the thickest stems at the back and the weaker ones in the front . I found a little white one growing at the back yesterday, hardly getting any light 😢 could i move it do you think this late on?

It obviously works and I have not planted dahlias so I do not know how they react to being moved. I figure if you can move a plant with loads of soil so the roots are not disturbed they are usually ok.

I'm sure I have the packet label for this in the shed... Must look! ! hoping to winter these somehow! @mikethegardener will there be a tutorial on drying out and storing dahlia tubers as most of the ones I tried to save from last year sadly failed! 😢 😢 😢

Oh wowzer, all I do with mine is dig them up let them dry out use a soft brush to brush off any dried soil, wrap them in newspaper and put them in a box and store in shed no light or anything never had probs with any rotting providing I pot them up following year 😁

SylviaDavies

@keely I wintered mine in dry compost in boxes/pots, covered with a blanket. phil left the shed door open early spring and we had frost. They seemed healthy when I planted them but none of the ones I had last year have come out this year sadly! There were some stunners too 😢 😢. May try newspaper this year then! Thanks!

Also worth turning the tubers upside down for a couple of weeks initially to let any excess moisture drain away. But yes, I'll get a video together to cover this.... Great idea..! @teamgardentags @ukgardentags @SylviaDavies @Keely
