#dicksonia-antarctica has enjoyed the rain the last couple of days. This was a late starter this year as have many of my plants but after seeing the devastation caused to many from the late May frost, I'm very glad it hadn't started unfurling until recently

Looks so healthy and lush 💚💚😀

Wow! Gorgeous!💘😍

Love that Julie. Can’t wait to come up & see you soon 🤗🤗

Please come over soon to collect these books 😂😂😂 @lexijane I can do socially distanced coffee and cake 🍰

Oh what a fab idea. Can you do next week? I can do Tuesday or Wednesday xx

Actually can only do Tuesday 😬

I'll book the afternoon off... Anything to get rid of the books 😂😂😂 @lexijane

#dicksonia-antarctica @davewrightjoinerygooglemail.co It's not looking too bad, there are knuckles there waiting to erupt

Is this better @pelly Either GT or my Internet was having a meltdown

Its way better than mine julie. All mine were black before January. Ive been struggling all week putting anything up. I think the internet is about to blow up 😂🥴

I didn't cover mine at all this year, I just stuffed a bit of fleece in the crown. I live in a terrible frost pocket so I'm really shocked at how they've come through @davewrightjoinerygooglemail.co

Yes, I can see it now and it's fabulous Julie 💚 I think it's the app, mine keeps freezing 🤔

@vec i think people are over cautious with them julie. On seagrave nurseries website where i get mine from, they say their ok to -7 with no protection, i just go a bit cautiously.

That’s looking great hunn💚💚

Wow that’s fabulous @vec 👌😍

Beautiful as #dicksonia-antarctica is, my garden is looking very bare surrounding it

Mine seems to be spreading rather than going vertical !!

Wow have you got most in the greenhouse now. 👌

Yes all in @suerichards 😁

#dicksonia-antarctica Not anywhere near as Impressive as yours @davewrightjoinerygooglemail.co

How long have you had it julie ?

Adore these. Bought a 2 litre one from T&M reckon it'll take some years to grow though. Mines in pot but thinking in straight in the ground.

It was bought (as a gift by Mr vec) early last year @davewrightjoinerygooglemail.co Think it was 3ft

@cazx I think I read that it grows about a foot every 10 years 😮

If its anything like mine julie they seem to produce more fronds each year. Do you feed it ? I start to feed mine in the second year, which seems to bring them on well.

Yes occasional liquid seaweed @davewrightjoinerygooglemail.co

Oops 🙊 @vec lol it will outlive me until it reaches a good size then

It's that time of year when my garden starts to wake up #unfurling #dicksonia-antarctica

I always think these look like monkey tails beautiful

Fabulous 💚💚

I spy new knuckles #dicksonia-antarctica

Hoo @vec when did you cut the fronds off? I'm yet to do mine, it's currently housed in the greenhouse but can't see any news ones coming through. What should I do ? Help! 🤷🏽♀️

This week @Cazx but the advice I was given was not to go too low as it will close the crown up and prevent the knuckles from unfurling. I'm keeping a bit of fleece at hand to shove in the crown in case we have frost forecast. I have been watering mine for a while as it was so dry

That Orangutan is back I see Bestie @vec 😉😘

It will soon be curly tail time 🐒 @jadojado29

Bless you @vec ! Started watering mine from last week, to me it looked like it was getting dry too. I shall cut them down tom. Totally out of my depth with ferns 🌴 thanks 🙏🏼 fir the sound advice

#dicksonia-antarctica #foliagefriday It's been a beautiful day here today and very productive. Tip run done of all the greenhouse boxes and wooden frame for the concrete base. Potted up my tulips 🌷🌷🌷 Lots of cutting back and deadheading and one full green bin. Anyone else find cutting back plants therapeutic or am I odd 😂

Evening Bestie @vec I did get out there this afternoon for a couple of hours & found it very therapeutic as well so we must both be odd 👍🤪 didn’t get as much done as you though 😘

I find cutting back therapeutic Julie looks so tidy and I feel they can all breath again lol 💚💚

Stunning 💚💚

Yes @keely I reckon the plants are giving out a huge sigh of relief 😂

Thank you @pelly The blue sky sets it off perfectly

@jadojado29 I thought I was the normal one 😂😂😂

😂😂😂 who told you that Bestie @vec they were lying 😂😂😘

Oh yes , very satisfying , love a good secateur session 🤣🤣🤣

I love it gives me so much satisfaction! I'm with you there! Planning on getting in garden tom. Needs huge clean, not been outside for weeks always something else to do.

Hasn't it grown quickly #dicksonia-antarctica 💚💚💚

Superb. What does it need in terms of sunlight?

Fabulous 😍

@valjones-hughes From what I'm told, the more sun it has the more water you give it. Mine is in sun until 4pm and has at least one full watering can a day. Drench the top and soak the trunk ☺

Lovely ❤️🌴

@juliesgarden I ummed and ahhed about getting one but it's beautiful and has made it into my top ten favourites 💚

I love mine , but nowhere as big as yours 😍😍

Love it but why 🤔 does David Dickinson pop in my mind when I read its name 🤷♀️🤦🏼♀️

Wow 💚💚💚

@debrascott yes the roots are in the trunk. Mine is only buried about 10cm into the soil for stability. I've seen lots of different opinions on feeding. Liquid seaweed is recommended but I feed my big plants (bananas and palms) with tomato feed so that's what it will get 😂

Mine is only a 2 foot trunk @juliesgarden I would have loved a bigger one but can't unless I have a lottery win or see a reduced one at the end of the season 😉

@nessas Its not orange enough to remind me of David 😂

Orangutan tails planted 🤣 @jadojado29 #dicksonia-tree-fern

😂😂 “the Orangutan” will like it there Julie @vec took me a couple of mins to work out whereabouts in your garden this was but got it now 😜😘

I moved a geum to put it there. Wanted to put it just to the right of where it is further back but that would have meant moving one of my favourite plants ... the Indian summer alstroemeria. Will stick a small banana behind that instead @jadojado29

#dicksonia-antarctica frond unfurling 💚

Fantastic photo Hun looks like my legs in the winter 😆😘

Lexi @lexijane See I told you Julie @vec had got an Orangutan in her Jungle garden that’s his tail to prove it 😂🐒🦍😂 Great pic Julie 👌😘

That's a beauty! @vec

I had a mouthful of coffee when I read that @nessas 😅😅😅😅😅

Orangutan LMAO @jadojado29

Thank you @bandicoot

Fascinating 👌

Love it had to look twice as I actually thought it was a monkeys tail lol 😂

Wowy! Never seen anything like it! How cool!

I've been treated to "a stump" as Mr vec calls it 😅 #dicksonia-antarctica 🌴

Brilliant Julie @vec you must have been a good girl, how nice of Mr to treat you 👌👍😘

Love your taste Julie 👍🏻😉 @vec

@jadojado29 I've had my eye on one for ages which he was going to buy for me online on payday but to see one in the flesh with fronds ... well I fell in love 😍

Thank you @porto I do love unusual (And expensive) plants 😁

Ditto Julie 😉🌴🌴🌴🌴 @vec

What size is your tree fern @vec on the hunt for one of these myself but concerned I may get one that is tiny tiny. Searched online but all different sizes and prices.

Mine is around 3ft. If you're buying online @Cazx go to seagrave nurseries. They are highly recommended on the tropical groups that I'm on and they have 25% off at the moment. https://www.seagravenurseries.co.uk/home/tree-ferns?gclid=CjwKCAjwwuvWBRBZEiwALXqjw2_tNdR9kpxfkmcYJJ8YZOq9jhJnOm3Eypd9rasC3tqS-uxRRrkRJxoCUdkQAvD_BwE

Awesome shopping spree

Brill, marvellous thank you so much. Been searching for months but felt really lost with buying a tree fern. This really helps, I shall be making a purchase very soon !! 🌴🌴 @vec

Wow how lucky you are for me vec to treat you plus it looks amazing
Whilst watering I spotted a new frond uncurling. Unusual for this time of year (for my plant anyway) #dicksonia-antarctica
Great capture! 💘😍
Had to look twice @ShelleySnyder 👀
Isn’t that just perfection…just amazing 🤩 💚💚
