8 Feb 2019 • This looks so wonderful but sadly, as pointed out by Rich, who is a bit of a star, this is #redblotch aka #leafscorch or #redfire a fungus infection of #amaryllis caused by stagonospora curtisii. I will need to destroy it - but not yet 😢@richard.spicer.7906
Oh 🙁
Poor thing ☹️☹️🤭😊💕
🌺😥
Ah, it will be a shame if it’s the case. See how it progresses, might get a healthy flower open up. On the plus side, it’s very neat straight edging isn’t it? 😄📐📏
Thank you for your sympathy... @terrimclaughlin @rachelbrooks @grandmagizzy
Yes, and I was thinking it looked so strong 🙄 @richard.spicer.7906
I don’t know. It’s whether it can flower before it goes “sunken and moist” 🤔😕 @suzyw
Yikes! 😕😕😕
It would but we’ll see 😟 @suzyw
Yup! Yikes! 😂 @brightcolours

8 Feb 2019 • Watching this grow is just fascinating. I have no idea what it’s going to look like ❤️
How’s yours doing Rich? 🚀@richard.spicer.7906
The red is interesting, I've never seen one like that before 🤔
Fab markings on the stem ❤️💚
Neither have I Sarah. I’m really looking forward to seeing what it does next @sieveheadsarah
I might have to post a close up Rach. It’s really interesting and still quite short and sturdy. They often grow very tall but then flop over don’t they, which I don’t think this is going to do. At least I hope not @rachelbrooks
😂😂 it’s still in the garage! I’m gonna take them out after I’ve finished my exams next week. Hadn’t had much time to think about actual gardening at mo, only studying it! 🤓 - so I think you might be winning the race on this one 👍🏼
Great markings, mine has a red blotch on the flower casing 😍😍
Just thinking, might be worth taking a closer look, or keeping an eye out, on those red marks 🤔 I remember reading that Hippeastrum/Amaryllis can suffer sometimes from a fungal disease which can cause marks like this. It might not be the same thing, but it does seem to look quite strong on yours. I think it was called Red Blotch disease. Worth a check up just in case.
😱😱😱 Noooo Rich! It’s looking so wonderful. Oh well, I don’t have any others so it won’t do any harm to keep growing it and see what happens. Good luck in your exams 👍 @richard.spicer.7906
Have you read Rich’s comment Jane ⬆️ 😱😱😱 @pelly
See my next post if you want to see a close up of the red blotch on the stem 💔

17 Jan 19 • And we’re off...
Oh darn it! Mines still in the garage, false start! 😂🤣 - I’ll be like the tortoise running against the hare 🐢
🤣🤣 If you look really closely there’s a 2nd bud just peeking out at the front too. Time to get yours out into the light Rich @richard.spicer.7906
Hang on, I need my specks 🧐..... oh yes! I see it, it’s going to be a relay 🤣
Woo hoo!!!!
😂😂 And the starting gun has fired! @richard.spicer.7906

7 Jan 19 • Yay! OK it may not have flowered in time for Christmas but it isn’t dead 🤷♀️
I was given 2 for Xmas so mine are at the same stage and also not dead! 😊
👍 I got mine at the end of Nov but for reasons unclear to me now I put it in the dark and forgot about it! 🙄🤣 @lilybee
Well if looks ok now Jacqueline and also love the tin you've put it in.
Lol, mine has got leaves about 8 inches tall now.
Yay! 👏🏼😄 - mine are still in the garage as I only made them go dormant in December. Might be ready in time for Easter 😂
Thanks Sue. I spotted the tin at a friend’s house - she was going to throw it in the recycling 😱 😂@lilybee
Woohoo! Flower bud can’t be far behind 🌸 @lesliecole49
I’ll race you! 😉😂 @richard.spicer.7906
Your on! Although I think you’ve got a head start 😂
The grower that I bought it off at Ghent flower market said they give theirs 6 weeks of complete dormancy, no soil or light, then pot them up and they should flower 6 weeks later 🐖🐖 🤔✈️ 😉😂 @richard.spicer.7906
You can also put them in-ground in the garden and they will revert to a regular lily type cycle of blooming

Happy Christmas everyone! 🎄❤️🎄You are such a lovely bunch: you make me laugh, you are so kind, you take amazing photographs and you know so much about plants (yes you too even though you think you don’t). Thank you for being my refuge of loveliness when the rest of the world has gone mad. All the best for 2018 🍾🥂
Aww, such lovely words Jacqueline, just enjoy all that the Christmas madness sends you. ❤️❤️
Merry Christmas my lovely friend, thanks for all the laughs - must definitely make it to the sunny lakes next year...unless you, @susanhumphrey333 @scaryskates @pelly do actually make it down Sarf on your tandem! 😉😂 have a great Christmas x

Just bought this rather wonderful white #amaryllis from the village shop on my way to the garden centre. Same bulb, no sign of growth & no pot, £2 more🤔. This has made me even happier 😊
Beautiful Colours
I'm hoping, when it blooms, it will look even better @gauravsh6
21 Feb 2019 • This will be the last update of this sad #amaryllis infected with #redblotch or #redfire The taller bud has now just turned to paper and it has hardly grown at all since my last photo #RIP
Oh no 😯💚
Oh yes. And it was a humongous bulb too 😢 @anges
I’m not waiting for the wet stage Rich 😱 @richard.spicer.7906
Oh Jacqueline 😱😥 - i didn’t think it would be as quick as that! Such a shame, and yep I don’t think you wanna see the wet stage 🙈. If your throwing it out but keeping the pot, give it a good disinfectant wash 🧼
Got mine out of the garage now, and saw a red blotch on one of them 🙊 - holding out that it’s just gonna be nothing but will wait for the buds and foliage to appear 😕
Oh Jacqueline, this is so sad to see 😪😪
Oh no oooo 😥
Will do Rich. Oh no. Apparently it is usually visible on the bulb... @richard.spicer.7906
My real sadness is that I won’t be able to try and get it through to next winter. I was looking forward to it now I know what to do 🤓 Hey ho! @sieveheadsarah
Oh yeeeeesssss 😢 @hobnob
I took a screen shot of your info about that, so fingers crossed I'll have success 🤔🤔. Maybe worth checking in Homebase for one, my Mum got two from there last week for cheap.
