I am busy planning our small front garden layout. It is south facing and receives loads of sun. I was thinking of having two medium size flower boxes each with a olive tree in the middle and surrounded by a selection of cactuses. (Similar the the picture, however my boxes will be bigger). Now, my question is, if this will work? And how do you manage the different needs for water. I am fairly new to gardening and any advise and/or ideas will be great. Thank you
They are only hardy to -10 and don't like a windy spot. You may need to bring them in over winter. They are quite drought tolerant so cacti or succulents should be ok with it. Good luck!

Where in the country are you? And how sheltered a spot will the olive be in? Perhaps they don't need any competition for conditions @daphne27
I am in East Surrey. Both the olive tree and cactuses will be 'unprotected', meaning very little shade. @joanboston
