It’s still below zero (Celsius) lots of days, but my #peony continues to grow!
I don't think I could cope with the Canadian climate 🥶 It's been quite mild here, even up to 22c/72f, which is very mild for April. Anything below 0c I'm allergic to 😆
@MarcoCee I agree! 22/72 degrees is perfect with the sun out. I don’t love the cold either. I guess I’m just used to it!

@Melanger same peony, but today! Just snapped that pic of the buds coming through ☺️
Nice !! This one has been there for a while right? I don't know were you are located but here everything is still covered in snow 😭 I'm in northern Quebec, hardiness zone 3 to 4.
Ooh sorry I'm still new to the app I just figured I could swipe left to see other pics hah
@melanger I’m pretty new to the app too! I just added that pic of the buds when I tagged you lol. I ran outside and took the pic and posted. But yes, you can put multiple pics under one plant from what I can tell. I like to see the growth over time!
I planted it about 3 years ago I think? A bit less? I’m near Toronto, we’re zone 6. It’s still cool out but spring is in the air!
So cool ! 😄
@cyndi thank you! I love this app! Everyone is so awesome
@cyndi wow 3 years!? I had no idea it existed until recently!

You know it's good if the ants like it!
@Melanger you like peonies right?!
Love them ! Today they announced the Oshawa Peony festival is cancel 😭 it's okay, I'll my own peony festival at home, I'm currently looking to buy Sarah Bernhard's and Festiva maxima, easy to grow and beautiful flowers. I know we're supposed to plant them in fall but I bought my house in fall so I wasn't focused on plants. Nice bud ! And I think the ants eat the super sweet sap that are on the buds, means its healthy I think 😊
@melanger i know everything getting cancelled does suck. I guess you’ll have to make sure you can go next year! That is my first and only peony. I planted it beside the front steps of our house (we moved here summer 2017). It’s a great sunny spot, it does really well! Except last year it didn’t flower very much? Nice and big, green healthy leaves, but just a couple blooms?
And yes, the ants are good! @maldavis mentioned above!
That's possible, to have big full blooms usually the stem should have 1 to 2 buds, if they have small extra buds on the side of the main stems, just pinch them off. I get most of my info through Allen P. Smith on YouTube, he's amazing ! Videos are long but amusing. Many great tricks :) peony should be planted not too deep too, if planted more then an inch and half deep, they will grow but mostly never bloom. So it's really great at least you have a couple of flowers !
