Y’all remember the the amaryllis Wina gave me that bloomed at Xmas? I shouldn’t have been able to get it to grow roots. I planted the bulb after cutting the stalk off. Well her she is. We will see how well this goes. #red-blooms #amaryllisbulb #surprise-gardening

Good thinking!! It looks like she’s alive. Keep us posted!!👍🏻😊💕

There's no reason it shouldn't grow, I have had some for 3 or 4 years. They didn't bloom this year only due to my neglect. You should uncover the top of this bulb so about a third of it is showing. They like their 'head and shoulders' above ground

@Lesliecole49 is correct about uncovering the top of the bulb. Leaving it covered could cause rot 😬
Well folks I can tell you that if you are patient you can grow an amaryllis even if it had the roots cut off and covered in wax, forcing it to bloom as a gift 🎁. 2 years ago instead of tossing it in the trash I thought hey it cost nothing to try. She lives again! #wina #mississippi #red-blooms #amaryllis
Congratulations on a great rescue!
