Ooh so beautiful! I had bought Bowl of Beauty peony root and Sarah Bernhardt peony root last year and planted them but they didn’t pop up this yr. followed instructions on how deep they should be with the eyes covered at about 2-3”. These flowers makes me yearn to have more peonies in my backyard!

I had the same issue with a Shirley Temple variety that was planted last fall @veepaisal Hopefully they work out for you, cause once they get established they last forever. This one's about 30 years young!!

@saco I hope they’ll work out too. 30 years young and it’s still a beauty! I bet it’s an amazing sight just to see them pop up with buds all over!

What are they after?

The peony releases a sweet nectar. Ants are naturally attracted to this. They help spread pollen from bud to bud, and cause no harm to the peonies. Symbiotic nature. @columbiariver @lovestogarden
