I am getting the rotten wooden pergola replaced, I hope I don't lose too much of my wisteria 😨

That’s always a problem when it wraps around the wood....good luck with it I’m sure it’ll be fine...

He has done a good job, only one main branch sacrificed, I will take a photo in the daylight to compare @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom

That’s good then..👍🏼

The first sign of colour on these wisteria buds 💜

I can’t wait for mine to do this....I’m still expecting the buds to fall off..🤭💜

Such a pretty picture 💜

I have given mine a severe prune this winter, doesn't seem to have had too bad an effect at the moment @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom @katgreen

Is it right that it flowers on last years wood....I need to know so I know what to chop back when the time comes...🤔

They need to be pruned to create little 'Spurs' like fruiting Spurs on apple trees. That is you cut back after flowering and through the summer to about 5 leaves, then in January you cut back further to 2 leaf nodes which makes like a finger which is the fruiting spur from where the flower buds grow. I don't explain it well but there is a lot on t'internet on how to do it. It is one of those unforgiving plants that insists on you doing it properly, good luck Elaine @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom

Thanks Vivien...it’s actually 10 years old and this is the first time it’s flowered...having said that I did give it a good chop back early spring but only to tidy it up. Thanks again..👍🏼

Well, from now on, it will be covered in flowers 👌🏻

Horray! 🤩💜💜💜

You will need to prune it properly to create flowering spurs Emma @littleshed1
