Love clematis. Have 2, thought my main one was a gonner because it was over run by 2 fast growing shrub/trees. I was sick long time couldn't take care of yard. Uncovered it yesterday and it was growing like crazy under all the brush. It did bloom in the spring and I posted a photo but the blooms we're mostly covered up. Yours looking good🤗

@purplebird thanks! I have a couple other varieties as well but this is the only one in bloom right now. I am glad yours lived. I hate when my plants die.😒

Just read on Pinterest that you can make a clematis smoothie nutritional shake by saving banana peels, egg shells and tomato scraps and blend together. Then pour around roots. Also coffee grounds good for them too, just like roses. Did u know this?🤔🤗

@purplebird I did know that. I actually save my coffee grounds sometimes and chuck them out in my garden. I even went as far as saving egg shells and then I lost interest. Maybe I will try again.😁

My second clematis (which I think is the same kind a the first, but inherited from my mom and haven't seen it bloom) isn't doing very well. In fact I thought it had died out till this spring when I spotted it trying to grow among plants that are not supposed to be growing in the flower bed. I think I will try the smoothie and see if it helps. Don't get coffee grounds.🤗
