Evening all, #advice please on my #asparagus which I planted last year and I thought died so I decided to sow salad to only find these 2 solitary spears pop up! They're so spindly and thin , do I leave them to yellow off or should I cut down in the hope to thicken for next year?? Thanks 😀
Best to let them grow to go to seed as they need that to build up the plant strength for next years. They don't come up too much the couple of first year but perhaps a feed might help? I feed mine with seaweed.
Sorry, pressed send before correcting, I meant to say that asparagus stalks don't come up much in the first couple of years and shouldn't be harvested until year 3 but they definitely will need a few feeds during the year
