I'm an absolute novice to gardening, trying to learn as I go along. Clueless as I may be, I am already getting a lot of enjoyment from tending to my

I've just been given this lovely but gigantic palm like tree. I have no idea what to do with it! It's in a pot that looks much too small...is that maybe to keep it from getting too big? Or does it need a new one asap? Should it be planted in the ground? Any advice/ #tips would be welcomed.

Grow in any well-drained, fertile soil in full sun or lightly dappled shade. Needs protection from strong or cold drying winds and will need protection from hard winter frosts. Can also be grown as a conservatory or warm glasshouse specimen...in ground can grow up to 12 meters...I would go for sizeable pot at least that way you can find suitable spot for it.

I have one of these. I love it! Brings some drama to my garden. I'm based up north in West Lancashire and it takes anything the weather can throw at it 👍
