Zingiber officinale

Has anyone managed to get a ginger plant going from one of these buds ?

I thought it was a picture of a bug! 😂 @juliesgarden

I did grow one a few years ago but didn't manage to keep it alive very long. I think it wanted a warmer, more humid environment than my kitchen windowsill offered.

Grew some last year, the foliage is nice but the flowers were a bit plain. The more exotic hedychiums have better flowers.

Going to try this year. From what I gather they grow along rather than down so need a wide shallow pot. Keep warm and kinda hope for the best lol
